The artificial intelligence updates of October 2026 touch three fronts that affect any digital marketing plan: how search engines and chatbots respond, how advertising is bought, and which rules apply in Colombia. OpenAI brought GPT-6 to all ChatGPT users. Google opened Gemini 4 Argon to developers and began testing a promotions format inside AI Mode. Anthropic brought Claude’s document, presentation and design tools to all its plans. And the Colombian Congress has still not passed an AI law.
At Tuatara we follow AI news every week, but here you will not find the full list of launches. We filter what changes the work of a marketing team at a Colombian company and leave out what only interests developers. Every data point comes from the company’s announcement or from an official record. Where something is still in testing or unconfirmed, we say so.
GPT-6 reaches all ChatGPT plans and responds with interfaces
OpenAI began the global rollout of GPT-6 in ChatGPT on October 7. The Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans received it first, with the GPT-6 Sol version. The Free and Go plans began receiving GPT-6 Luna starting October 8. In Enterprise, access depends on what the workspace administrator enables.
The change that matters most for marketing is not the model number. It is Intelligent UI, a feature with which GPT-6 builds each response by combining text, visual elements and interactive components depending on the question. A query can return charts, buttons, forms or a calculator that the user operates without leaving the chat. If text is enough, the response is still text.
OpenAI states that the model is designed for the more than 1.2 billion people who use ChatGPT every week. It is the company’s own figure, without external audit, but it helps to gauge the size of the channel.
For a brand, the consequence is concrete. Comparing options, which used to happen on your site or in a media outlet’s table, can now happen inside an interactive response. If your prices, terms or product sheets are not clearly published on your website, the model will take that data from another source or leave it out. OpenAI also says GPT-6 is better at deciding when it needs to search the web. That makes it more relevant for your content to be easy to find and to cite.
Gemini 4 Argon: Google bets on long tasks and agents
Google DeepMind introduced Gemini 4 Argon on September 30. During the first two weeks it was used only by verified cybersecurity teams within the Fairwind program. On October 13 it reached developers through the paid tier of the Gemini API and AI Studio, and the Gemini app for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
Google positions it for long, multi-step workflows: programming, knowledge work in areas such as legal and finance, and defensive cybersecurity. One of its technical new features is that it raises the output limit to one million tokens. In practical terms, it can produce very extensive documents or codebases in a single task.
For a marketing team the impact is less direct than ChatGPT’s, but it points in the same direction as the rest of the industry. The labs now sell their models on the ability to sustain a goal for hours. We are talking about auditing an entire site, consolidating reports from several platforms or reviewing hundreds of pieces against a brand manual.
The useful question for your company is which repetitive processes have rules clear enough to delegate them with supervision. Choosing the model comes later.

Google Ads tests promotions inside AI Mode

On October 7 a new asset called Direct Offer, marked as beta, appeared in the Google Ads interface. It is in the assets section, next to Promotions, Messages and Lead forms, and can be created at the account or campaign level. Its function is to show a promotion to users with purchase intent inside AI Mode, Google’s conversational search experience. The advertiser can add single-use discount codes.
It should be read as what it is, a test. Google has not announced a general availability date and, at the time of writing, had not published a dedicated help page. Nor has it confirmed whether it will be available to advertisers in Colombia.
Even so, it is worth following for two reasons. The first is that since September 2026, search campaigns that used text customization were automatically moved to AI Max. More advertisers end up close to these formats without having decided to. The second is that it raises a measurement question. If the AI decides when to offer a discount, the advertising team has to check whether those codes generate new sales or only lower the price of purchases that were going to happen anyway.
In Colombia there is an additional point. A promotion that the AI shows on your behalf is still your brand’s advertising. The information and advertising rules of the Consumer Statute (Estatuto del Consumidor), overseen by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), apply to it, so the offer’s terms must be clear before uploading it.
Claude: a new small model and production tools on all plans
Anthropic launched Claude Haiku 5.5 on October 7. The company presents it as its fastest and most capable small model, designed for high-volume tasks where the cost per response matters.
For marketing, the most impactful announcement came on October 8. Claude Docs, Slides and Design came out of beta and became available on all plans, including the free one. Any user can create editable documents, presentations and visual pieces within a conversation and work on them with their team. According to Anthropic, users have already created more than 45 million of these files.
The same day, Claude Dashboards opened in beta, which builds dashboards from business data on paid plans, and Claude Motion, for animated explanations on Team and Enterprise plans. The practical effect is that the distance between an idea and a presentable draft gets shorter. Reviewing brand, data and claims is still the team’s job.
What to do with these changes in your marketing plan
None of these artificial intelligence updates forces you to redo the plan. They do justify four reviews before closing next year’s budget.
Review what your site says about your products. Prices, terms, technical sheets and frequently asked questions must be published in clear text, because that is what ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Mode can read and cite.
Ask ChatGPT and Gemini about your category. Write what a customer would ask, see which brands appear and where they get the data from. Repeat the exercise every month and save the responses to compare.
Ask your advertising team for a map of which campaigns moved to AI Max and what control you keep over the assets Google generates automatically.
Document how your company uses AI with customer data and in advertising pieces. If any of the bills moves forward, you will have a good part of the work done.

Frequently asked questions
What are the most important artificial intelligence updates of October 2026?
The rollout of GPT-6 with Intelligent UI to all ChatGPT users, the opening of Gemini 4 Argon to developers and paid subscribers, the Direct Offer test in Google Ads, Claude Docs, Slides and Design coming out of beta, and the progress of AI bills in the Colombian Congress.
Is there an artificial intelligence law in Colombia yet?
No. As of October 2026 there are bills in progress, such as PL 025 of 2026 (House) and PL 065 of 2026 (Senate), but none has been approved. In the meantime, Law 1581 of 2012 and the Consumer Statute apply.
Can I use Direct Offer in my campaigns in Colombia?
Google has not confirmed it. The asset is in beta and has no general availability date.
What did AI in marketing 2026 leave for next year?
A change in where the purchase decision happens. More and more users compare options inside an AI response, so site content and campaign structure weigh as much as the advertising budget.
What’s next for your brand
